I’m Mark, the owner of ZEM Sports Golf — and my journey into golf didn’t start the way most people expect. I didn’t grow up playing golf. I had no interest in it as a kid. I was all about team sports, playing and competing at a high level, where energy, atmosphere, and people were what made sport exciting. Golf just wasn’t on my radar. I didn’t properly get into golf until I was 45.
At first, I didn’t even like it that much. But the more I played, the more I realised how challenging, addictive, and powerful the game could be. That spark grew into a real passion, and I went on to qualify as a golf coach. That’s when everything changed.
Because coming from a team-sport background, one thing stood out immediately —
golf didn’t need to be this quiet, stiff, serious thing.
So instead of fitting into the traditional golf world, I decided to do the opposite.
ZEM Sports Golf was built on the idea that golf should be fun, social, inclusive, and entertaining. We started creating golf events indoors and outdoors, in nightclubs, pubs, event spaces, as well as at some of the most exclusive golf clubs in the country. Loud venues, music, atmosphere, energy — mixed with quality golf experiences. It worked.
From there, ZEM Sports Golf became the golf entertainment provider for TUI and Cunard cruise ships, delivering bespoke golf experiences at sea. Our approach is simple:
give us the space, and we’ll create the golf event.
That might mean:
• High-energy experiences for complete beginners
• Premium events for experienced golfers
• Corporate days and team-building
• Schools and youth programmes
• Private parties, festivals, hospitality venues, and cruise ships
No two events are the same — because no two crowds are the same.
Everything we do is about removing barriers and changing perceptions. You don’t need to “fit in” to play golf. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to take it seriously. You just need to turn up and get involved.
